SCENARIO #2 Serious injury (“Load and go”)
SETUP

Have the victim lie on the floor. Tell the victim what the injuries are (cuts, bruises, lacerated liver (not visible)). Tell them that all they are allowed to do is cry and ask for their mom If asked where it hurts, say “everywhere”. Encourage victim to “ham it up”

SCENARIO
You are walking home from school. A third grader runs across the street and is hit by a car. He lands on the street and skids for a couple of feet. He has a bad scrape on his left arm and a badly bleeding cut over his right eye. He is starting to scream that he is bleeding and wants his mom.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR : Items in ( ) are for your information. Items in { } are information to give scouts if they do the right things. If not, do not give them the information.

1)    **SCENE SAFETY** (make sure you don’t get run over)

2)    GET HELP call 911

3)    Put on gloves if available

4)    Comfort and quiet the victim

5)    Apply direct pressure to stop b1eedint to cut over eye TRY NOT TO MOVE HEAD AND NECK

6)    DO NOT MOVE VICTIM EXCEPT TO GET HIM OUT OF TRAFFIC (if they don’t mention it, ask if they would)

7)    BONUS try to get information about name, age, etc if not already known.
