SCENARIO #12 Heat Exhaustion
SETUP Have the victim sitting on the floor. The victim can communicate any information in the scenario.
SCENARIO

Your WEBELOS den has just finished marching in a Fourth of July Parade. One of the scouts complains of cramps in his legs and stomach. He feels dizzy, and looks pale and sweaty.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR : Items in ( ) are for your information. Items in { } are information to give scouts if they do the right things. If not, do not give them the information.

1) Have the victim lie in a cool, shady place with his feet raised.

2) Remove excess clothing.

3) Cool the victim by applying cool wet cloths to his body and by fanning him.

4) If he is fully alert, let him sip from a glass of water (you may add a pinch of salt if available)

5) Recovery should be rapid. If symptoms persist, call for medical help.
