Buckeye District - Worthington Day Camp

 

 

Your scout should have earned the following belt loops, completed the following requirements and electives.  Be sure to ask him if he took these sessions.  Some scouts may have left camp early or arrived late and not completed everything.

 

Archery – Belt Loop (Sunday – Shooting sports)

 

  1. Explain the rules for safe archery that you have learned in the district/council camp or activity you are attending with your leader or adult partner.
  2. Demonstrate to your leader or adult partner good archery shooting techniques, including the stance and how to nook the arrow, establish the bow, draw, aim, release, follow-through and retrieve arrows.
  3. Practice shooting at your district or council camp for the time allowed.

 

Flag Football – Belt Loop (Sunday – Tiger/Wolf/Bear)

 

  1. Explain or discuss the simple rules of flag football with your den.
  2. Practice running, passing, and catching skills for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Play a game of flag football.

 

Map & Compass  – Belt Loop –Saturday M&M Rally all ranks

 

  1. Show how to orient a map.  Find three landmarks on a map.
  2. Explain how a compass works.
  3. Plot a route to take to get to somewhere on a map.

 

Fishing Belt Loop – Sunday all ranks.

 

  1. Review your local fishing requlations with your leader or adult partner.
  2. Demonstrate how to properly bait a hook
  3. Try to catch a fish.

 

Outdoor Activity Award

 

Ø      Attend Cub Scout day camp or Cub Scout/Webelos Scout resident camp.

 

 

 


Tiger Requirements & Electives

 

Requirement:

  1. (2d) Participate in a flag ceremony.
  2. (5d) Make leaf rubbings.
  3. (5g) Take a hike.

 

Elective:

  1. (9) Make a new friend.
  2. ((16) Leaf collection/rubbings?
  3. (17) Make a model (raft)
  4. (25) Make a snack.
  5. (30) Plant a seed.
  6. (32) Make a bird feeder & feed the birds.
  7. (35) Play a game with your den outside.

 

 

 

Wolf Requirements & Electives

 

Requirement:

  1. (2e) Learn how to raise a U.S. Flag properly for an outdoor ceremony.
  2. (2f) Participate in an outdoor flag ceremony.
  3. (2g) Learn how to properly fold a U.S. flag.
  4. (5c) Identify & use a Phillips head screw driver.
  5. (5d) Show how to use a hammer.
  6. (5e) Make a bird house.
  7. (6b) Make a leaf collection.
  8. (8e) With an adult cook a meal outdoor.

 

Elective:

  1. (5g) Make a boat.
  2. (17a) Learn how to tie an overhand knot and a square knot.
  3. (17g) Wrap the end of a rope with tape to keep it from unwinding.
  4. (17b) Tie a square bow tie.
  5. (17g) Whip the ends of  rope.
  6. (18g) Point out poisonous plants and tell what to do if you touch one.
  7. (19c) Earn the Cub Scouting shoot sports Archery belt loop.
  8. (23b) Explain the basics of how to take care of yourself in the outdoors.
  9. (23d) Explain the buddy system.
  10. (23e) Attend day camp in your area.
  11. (23g) Participate with your den at a campfire in front of your pack.




 

Bear Requirements & Electives

 

Requirement:

  1. (3f) Be a member of the color guard in a flag ceremony for your den or pack.
  2. (3h) Learn how to raise a U.S. Flag properly for an outdoor ceremony.
  3. (3i) Participate in an outdoor flag ceremony.
  4. (7a) Make a plaster caste.
  5.  (9g) With an adult cook something outdoors
  6. (12b) Go on a hike..
  7. (15b) Play two organized games with your den.
  8. (19a) Know the rules for handling a knife.
  9. (19b) Know how to take care of your plants.
  10. (19c) Make a carving.
  11. (19d) Earn the Whittling Chip Card.
  12. (20b) Build a toolbox.
  13. (21a) Build a model from a kit rocket.
  14. (21f) Build a boat (raft)..
  15. (22a) Whip the ends of a rope.
  16. (22b) Tie a square knot.
  17. (22c) Learn how to coil a rope.
  18. (22d) Play a game using a rope.
  19. (22f) Make your own rope.
  20. (23a) (PART OF THIS ONE) – Flag Football
  21. (23c) completed one team sport.

 

 

Elective:

  1. (1d) Build a model of a rocket.

Webelos Requirements & Electives

 

Geology Activity Badge: If your scout took this session.

  1. Earn the Geology Belt Loop
  2. Collect five geologic specimens that have important uses.
  3. Give examples of how rocks and minerals are used.
  4. Discuss the Mohs Hardness scale and assemble a home hardness test kit.
  5. Discuss some of the geologic materials used in your house.
  6. Explain how mountains are formed.

 

Outdoorsman Activity Badge:

  1. (#2) With your family or Webelos den, help plan and take part in an evening outdoor activity that includes a campfire.
  2. (#7) Discuss with your Webelos den leader the rules of outdoor fire safety.  Using these rules, show how to build a safe fire and put it out.
  3. (#8) With our accompanying adult on a campout or outdoor activity, assist in preparing, cooking, and cleanup for one of your den’s meals.
  4. (#10)Demonstrate how to whip and fuse the ends of a rope.

 

 

Engineer Activity Badge:  If your scout took this session.

 

Do Both of These:

1.     Talk to an engineer, surveyor, or architect in your area about the different occupations in engineering.  Create a list that tells what they do.

2.     Draw a floor plan of your house.  Include doors, windows, and stairways.

 

And Do These:

 

  1. Tel about how electricity is generated and then gets to your home.
  2. Construct a simple working electrical circuit using a flashlight battery, a switch, and a light.
  3. Make drawings of three kinds of bridges and explain their differences. 
  4. Make a simple crane using a block and tackle and explain how the block and tackle is used in everyday life.
  5. Build a catapult and show how it works.

 

Scientist  Activity Badge:

 

  1. #1 Read Bernoulli’s principle.  Show hot it works.
  2. #2 Read Pascal’s law.  Tell about some inventions that use it.
  3. #4 Earn Science belt loop.
  4. #5 Show the effects of atmospheric pressure.
  5. #6 Show the effects of air pressure.
  6. #7 Show the effects of water pressure.
  7. #8 Build and launch a model rocket.
  8. #11 Explain how you use your center of gravity.
  9. #12 Show in 3 different ways how your eyes work….

 


 

Forester Activity Badge: If your scout took this session.

 

  1. (1) Make a map of the United States.
  2. (2) Draw a picture to show the plant and tree layers.
  3. (3) Identify six forest trees…
  4. (7) Collect pieces of three kinds of wood used for building houses.
  5. (9) Describe both the benefits and the harm wildfires.

 

While doing Forester they may have completed #7 of Naturalist.

Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award

Tiger Cubs, Wolf and Bear Cub Scouts, and Webelos Scouts have the opportunity to earn the Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award. Boys may earn the award in each of the program years as long as the requirements are completed each year. The first time the award is earned, the boy will receive the pocket flap award, which is to be worn on the right pocket flap of the uniform shirt. Each successive time the award is earned, a wolf track pin may be added to the flap. Leaders should encourage boys t o build on skills and experiences from previous years when working on the award for a successive year.

All Ranks  The boys completed this requirement, but may need to complete other items listed below with either their pack, den, or family.

Attend Cub Scout day camp or Cub Scout/Webelos Scout resident camp.

Assemble the "Six Essentials for Going Outdoors" (Wolf Handbook, Elective 23b) and discuss their purpose, and complete four of the outdoor activities listed below.

Bear Cub Scouts

Earn the Cub Scout Leave No Trace Award (Bear Handbook, Elective 25h) and compete five of the outdoor activities listed below.

Webelos Scouts

Earn the Outdoorsman Activity Badge (Webelos Handbook) and complete six of the outdoor activities listed below.

Outdoor Activities

 

With your den, pack, or family:

  1. Participate in a nature hike in your local area. This can be on an organized, marked trail, or just a hike to observe nature in your area.
  2. Participate in an outdoor activity such as a picnic or park fun day.
  3. Explain the buddy system and tell what to do if lost. Explain the importance of cooperation.
  4. Attend a pack overnighter. Be responsible by being prepared for the event.
  5. Complete an outdoor service project in your community.
  6. Complete a nature/conservation project in your area. This project should involve improving, beautifying, or supporting natural habitats. Discuss how this project helped you to respect nature.
  7. Earn the Summertime Pack Award.
  8. Participate in a nature observation activity. Describe or illustrate and display your observations at a den or pack meeting.
  9. Participate in an outdoor aquatic activity. This can be an organized swim meet or just a den or pack swim.
  10. Participate in an outdoor campfire program. Perform in a skit, sing a song, or take part in a ceremony.
  11. Participate in an outdoor sporting event.
  12. Participate in an outdoor Scout's Own or other worship service.
  13. Explore a local city, county, state, or national park. Discuss with your den how a good citizen obeys the park rules.
