Sea to Shining Sea
This
year Simon Kenton Council chose "Sea
to Shining Sea" as the theme for District Daycamps. We're
not sure what they had in mind either, but we're going to have fun
bringing activities from
sea to shining sea here to Columbus. Look down
the page to see some of the things that we'll be doing.
Afternotes
Just
a quick note to thank the volunteers and parents who helped make this
year's daycamp in Worthington a success. Scout
requirements/achievements covered by camp activities are linked here as
HTML, PDF, and Word documents. Additional
pictures will be posted here as we receive them. The
event page also has a list of volunteers
who helped with the camp. Take a moment to look at the list
and
if you know any of these people, make a point of telling them that you
appreciate their time and efforts.
We have a
list of campers who still need to receive patches. The
patches will be sent out in a wrapup letter sometime in the next week
or so.
Buckeye
District Daycamp in Hilliard
is July 14, 15. If you know anyone who would enjoy attending
this
daycamp, please let them know about the Hilliard camp. Early
bird
registration closes on July 2.

If we've overlooked anyone, it's
because we had help from so many people
and were often a bit distracted during camp. If you're aware
of
someone we've missed, please drop us a note.

Daycamp News
We're
in the last week of preparation for the Buckeye Daycamp in Worthington.
Our Program Director, Judy Manley, has so much daycamp stuff
in
her garage that the cars have to sit on the street! We've
just
sent out letters by mail/email to all the daycampers. They're
linked below and cover place, time, and checkin, checkout.
The
biggest change from last year's format is that we're not having lunches
catered. Your campers will need to bring bag lunches for
Saturday lunch and Sunday afternoon.

Construction
at Grace Brethren
There
is some construction going on at Grace Brethren this summer.
You

entrances on Lazalle Road. You will need to enter the south
east
entrance on Worthington Galena Road. Registration starts at
8:15.
We have about 50 campers and are looking forward to a great
weekend.

A
daycamp flier was circulated at the March Roundtable. A
downloadable version of this flier will be posted in this area as soon
as it's finalized. There will also be a 20 page pack manual
with
boxes, flow charts, and arrows which will describe daycamp procedures
in excruciating detail. All Cubmasters and Committee Chairs
attending camp will be asked to complete an essay exam based on this
material (to be graded by Doug Maden, Director of Camping).
We're just kidding about the exam -- it's only multiple choice.
Skim through the manual. Pay attention to the
sections on
late arrival or early release if you plan to arrive late or leave
early.
