Welcome to One World One Promise, Simon Kenton Council’s Centenary Celebration, May 5.

Get ready to follow Akela into a new Century of Scouting: Adventure lies ahead!

We have important information for you to help you have fun at the Centenary Celebration. As always you can find detailed information about the following opportunities at the council website: www.skcbsa.org

Please read through to the bottom for important reminders for leaders and families of Cub Scouts.

Let’s talk about fun!

Whether you are family camping at the fair grounds, at our great camp, Chief Logan, or at one of our beautiful state parks, or driving to the event Saturday morning, you’ll wake up to FUN May 5!

Your family is welcome—even your little sister! If they didn’t register with your Pack, they are welcome at the Gate Saturday morning. You can enjoy the event with your family, or better yet--Your closely supervised Pack or Den will show you the fun all day long.

Either way, you will see fun everywhere. We have dedicated a great area for your Cub Fun Fair. You will find a special place to keep your stuff together and you can bring your Pack flag to mark your spot. You’ll enjoy many familiar games and crafts there just for you: Bull’seye boulevard,  Recycleville, Pinwood Derby Car Show, Handiworl, Naturally Cool, Webelos Skills, Space Ships, Everyone’s an Actor; These are just some of the Fun Fair Activities you’ll enjoy and remember! And, you’ll enjoy many other great program areas throughout the Centenary Celebration. You might even see Akela and some of his animal buddies wondering around; Go ahead, say. “Hi!”

There’s more!

Our Special Programs folks have put together great opening and closing programs and a great fireworks show for Saturday night: You do not want to miss the fireworks! And, show up early for the great morning program beginning at 8:00 AM.

Your Pack or Den will see and do exciting things all day. Have you ever shot a BB gun? You can at OWOP. Have you ever launched a solid fuel rocket—the real thing? You can at OWOP. Have you ever made an arrowhead or a stone chopper from natural rock? You can at OWOP. Have you ever been to COSI? COSI will come to you at OWOP! Are you ready to learn about first aid, or tying knots? Boy Scouts will help you learn at OWOP. Would you like to run a Recycle Relay? You can at OWOP. Would you like to see special rocks and fossils and learn about Ohio’s nature? You can at OWOP. Would you like to dig for fossil shark teeth? You can at OWOP.

You will see all of our major program areas, too: In Wait until you see the uniforms Scouts from other counties wear! You will learn about the history of scouting, too. And, you’ll lean all about the importance of Values and what an honor it is to follow in the foot-steps of Akela and all the Scouts that have come before you. Don’t miss the International, Historical, and Honor and Service areas activities in the 4H building!

There will be lots of good food for sale at OWOP, too.

There is so much to do at OWOP we can’t list everything—you have to come and see for yourself!

Remember the Law of the Pack! We’ll see you at OWOP!

Reminders for Cub leaders and Families:

Gate admission for unregistered Cub Scouts, friends, and family members is $5.00. All vehicles should bring at least one food donation and drop it off at the registration booth by the pedestrian entry tunnel when they arrive (one per Scout is our goal).

The Guest Gate admission fee does not cover the cost of shooting sports, crafts, rockets, and other program elements paid for by fully registered Cubs and Scouts.

There is a $3.00 parking fee for all vehicles, each entry.

All participants and guests will receive color-coded Tyvek wrist bands. Please ensure your Cubs keep them on all day!

Cub Scouts should not plan to do a service project, focus on fun instead! Cubs will not earn event patch rockers.

Older Webelos near cross-over may participate in a service project with a troop if they are camping with a troop, etc.

You will have a fenced location to keep your stuff in the Cub Fun Fair Area.
