Shootoree

The 2006 Cub Scout Shoot-O-Ree will be Sunday, September 24th at Camp Lazarus. The event is open to registered Cub Scouts, and is especially great for boys who just joined the program. Cub Scout-age siblings may participate, provided they pay the event registration fee and their parent is present during the day. Camp Lazarus is located on the west side of Highway 23 between Delaware and Lewis Center, across from the Delaware Area Career Center.  Shoot-O-Ree Check-in is open from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at our new Welcome Center, adjacent to the camp parking lot.

Activities are open 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sunday. The first 300 registered participants will receive a special Shoot-O-Ree souvenir. All registered and paid participants will receive a wristband for access to Shoot-O-Ree activities. Activities involving actual shooting require instruction and a safety briefing prior to shooting.  (Safety around firearms is a key lesson to learn in life.) An Old West Treat will be provided, and snacks will be available for an additional cost. Some activities will also have a small additional cost. You may bring your own model rocket to shoot from our launch pad.

Please check to weather forecast for the day, and make sure each participant is prepared and dressed appropriately. There will be a variety of indoor and outdoor activities for all sorts of weather conditions.

Pre-Registration is strongly encouraged. Save time, money, and hassle. A roster of participants and payment is required at the time of reservation. A packet will be available at a “Will Call” line at check in for each Contact Person to handle their own group check-in. Souvenirs and wristbands will be pre-counted. No refunds, but substitutions are okay.

Overnight camping on Saturday Night is available on a first-come basis, but must be reserved in advance through the Camping Department at the Council Service Center, (614) 436-7200 or www.skcbsa.org. Cabins (sleep 16) are available for rent and tent camping (bring your own tent) is available at $1 per person. Tent sites will be assigned upon arrival. Campers may arrive to set-up beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Please do not arrive earlier. Meals will not be provided.
