2007 FOS Patch
Ohio State Fair
Would your unit like to have fun at the State Fair?

State Fair Ohio State Fair Scouting Committee

Email:  Orville Potts

The Ohio State Fair Scouting Committee is looking for Scout units (Packs, Troops, Crews, OA dance teams) to help us at our display. If your unit would like to put on a demonstration or other display and get FREE entry to the Fair, please contact me. You may participate for any number of days from one to all twelve days of the Fair. Our days are long we must be ready to go at 8:00 AM and close at 8:00PM. Most units break their members up into two hour shifts. While not working in the display areas, your Scouts can take in the rest of the Fair.

Complete uniforms are desired but not absolutely essential. If uniforms are worn, they must be worn correctly shirts tucked in, buttons buttoned, etc. All clothing, Scout and non-Scout, shall be neat and clean. Because this is not an OA function, the wearing of OA sashes is discouraged unless participants are performing as a dance team or have set up a display of their lodge or chapter.

As with every Scout function, two adults from your unit must be in attendance at the display area at all times. Please note that these adults do not have to be registered with BSA; however, they must be mature, responsible adults. Yes, we have had the other kind at the Fair, and we had one Scoutmaster leave because “the State Fair Committee had several adults in attendance.” Of course, he failed to notify anyone that he had to leave.

If this sounds like a fun activity (it is), please send me a long (#10) self-addressed stamped envelope (2 ounce postage affixed) I’ll be happy to send you an information packet, including an application. Please understand that an application must be completed in order for me to obtain your FREE tickets, and the application MUST be in my hands not later than June 1.

Please do not contact Simon Kenton Council to obtain the packet. They do not have them. Contacting SKC may delay my receiving your request.

Yours in Scouting,

Orville Potts, Chairman
Ohio State Fair Scouting Committee
